API Maker v4.2.0

Big deletes no longer fill the memory, SSR websites get their own domain, and Launchpad now serves your other sites too.

Features

  • Writes read rows only when you ask. A new returnData key decides what a write answers, on all six databases and in all eight languages. Remove by query and update many answer a count unless you ask for the rows. Save and master save still answer the rows, and returnData=false makes them answer a count. A delete of a million rows now costs the delete, not a read of a million rows into memory. What a write answers →
  • SSR websites on their own address. Open a website on a port or on your domain with HTTPS, not under /ssr/admin/starter/. Launchpad sets it up from a form, on Caddy, Ferron and Pingap, and your website code does not change. Old links go to the same page at the new address. SSR with Launchpad →
  • Static sites and reverse proxies in Launchpad. Serve a folder or proxy to another project from the Cloud section, on an IP address or a domain, on any of the three proxy servers. Launchpad checks your input and makes the folder with a sample page if it is missing. Need more? Write the proxy's own file by hand and validate it : API Maker's routes stay safe.

Improvements

  • Images only for the languages you use. A server now downloads and builds a sandbox image only when your code is written in that language. Saving Sandbox Settings no longer builds all eight, and images no code needs are removed. When an image is made →
  • Idle sandboxes stay by default. "Remove idle sandboxes after" now defaults to Never, so the first request after a quiet time stays fast. To free the memory, choose a number of minutes. Idle sandboxes →
  • The local client syncs at once. A file you save goes to the server in about a tenth of a second, and changes from the panel or another developer reach your disk as soon as they are saved. An edit typed right after a sync is no longer lost. Local client →
  • The V3 to V4 Migration finishes the job. One operation now takes a server from v3 to a full Launchpad installation, on the same ports and with the same data. Launchpad can deploy that server afterwards like any other. A server migrated earlier gets a Finish the migration button.
  • Upgrade from the panel on Launchpad servers. The Upgrade/Downgrade Engine page now also updates the admin panel the proxy serves, and Launchpad keeps the version you chose. A server on 4.1.0 or older should take its first upgrade from Launchpad. Deploy API Maker →
  • Tidier panel. Numbers in grids never break over two lines, and page explanations use shorter, simpler words.

Bug fixes

  • Uploaded files reach the sandbox. Code in a Docker sandbox got a path it could not read. path now works wherever the code runs, including native code in a folder of its own. Uploads →
  • File names with accents. A file like résumé.pdf was silently left out of the request. It now arrives with its name.
  • Long uploads and big text fields. A slow form no longer stops at 5 minutes while it keeps arriving, and its text fields can use the whole bodyLimit, not only 1 MiB. Limits →
  • Refused uploads leave nothing behind. A request refused before the code runs now removes its uploaded files at once.

Breaking changes

  • Remove by query answers only a count. It now answers { deletedRowsCount }, from the API and from g.sys.db.removeByQuery. If your code or a post hook reads deletedRows or ids, pass returnData: true. Remove by query →
